In a move that should terrify anyone who believes in democracy, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order reorganizing the National Security Council on Saturday.
GONE — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
GONE — The Director of National Intelligence.
ADDED — White Nationalist, Anti-Semite wife beater, Stephen K. Bannon.
The conventional wisdom is that yesterday’s ban on visits by Muslims from seven countries, none of which had a thing to do with the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, was a smoke screen to distract the media so Trump could make this change to the National Security Council relatively unnoticed.
The changes affirm the ascent of Bannon, the former executive chairman of Breitbart, a conservative website that is popular with white nationalists, who has emerged as Trump’s political consigliere and the keeper of the president’s populist flame.
Bannon has already been playing a major role in directing Trump’s foreign policy, administration officials say, and joined the president in the Oval Office on Saturday for his calls with Putin and several other world leaders.
Also of note: the failure to mention the Jews in yesterday’s White House memo on the observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day was INTENTIONAL, because, you know, even though the Nazis killed 6 million Jews, they killed other people too.
The White House announced today that the decision not to mention Jews or anti-Semitism in its announcement commemorating Holocaust remembrance day was intentional. According to White House spokeswoman Hope Hicks, the statement made no mentions of Jews out of respect for the non-Jews who died in Nazi labor camps and death camps during World War II. Hicks told CNN: “Despite what the media reports, we are an incredibly inclusive group and we took into account all of those who suffered.”
