If you ask Donald Trump what he thinks of being connected to Russia or Russians, he never heard of the country until the media told him about it.
Yes, no business in Russia, never had any Russian contacts, never knew them. Except when one looks at Paul Manafort, then you get the sense that Trump is a lying SOB. But that’s par for the course when dealing with Donald Trump. Next week he may announce a new Casino there, and of course it will just magically appear as if it all happened within a day. Yes, in Trumpistan, business deals get made and hotels and casinos get built in a day, yesterday is forgotten. Nothing happened yesterday because in Trump’s world memory is a bad thing to have.
When asked to prove that Trump has no business alliances with Russia, and that releasing his tax returns would prove that out, Paul Manafort refused to release them, stating that Trump is in an audit, you know, that audit that takes years and years to clear up.
“Mr. Trump has said that his taxes are under audit and he will not be releasing them. It has nothing to do with Russia, it has nothing to do with any country other than the United States and his normal tax auditing processes, so that issue will be dealt with when the audits are done,” Manafort said.
“I mean I have nothing to do with Russia. I don’t have any jobs in Russia. I’m all over the world but we’re not involved in Russia,” he said.

I think as much as anything, releasing his tax returns would reveal that Trump isn’t nearly as wealthy as he wants the world to think he is.
