Dr. Ben Carson is the “Islamophobic little twerp running for the Presidency.” Now every racist conservative can say they have a black friend, thanks to Dr. Carson! In an interview with Chuck Todd on NBC’s Meet the Press, Dr. Carson said that a president’s faith only matters “if it’s inconsistent with the values and principles of America.” He went on to say that Islam is not consistent with the Constitution. He implored: “I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that.”
Texas Senator and GOP Presidential candidate Ted Cruz, renowned for always taking the high road, pointed out that it would be unconstitutional to prohibit someone from being president because of their religion. Not that Cruz ever needs to be fact-checked, but my review of the United States Constitution reaffirmed his assertion. Indeed, Article Six of the Constitution forbids a religious test as a requirement for holding a governmental position.
You might ask: “Did Ben Carson jump the shark on his 2016 with these ridiculous comments?” The answer is: “Of course not!.” His comments sparked a surge in fundraising from the ginned-up angry conservative base. His warped hate speech belies his friendly and calm demeanor. He would probably be smiling as he cut your head open (excuse the Neurosurgery joke)…..
