Federal, state, and local law enforcement assembled at the border bridges in Cameron County, Texas Saturday in preparation for a planned protest by something calling itself ‘The American Patriots.’ However, only five demonstrators actually showed up to face the armored car, command center and SWAT team:

“We paid people over-time,” Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio.

When asked about having to deploy all those personnel, Lucio said, “Yes, I hate to waste that kind of money. As law enforcement, you never know what’s going to come up. You use these resources and other resources. We take care of people in the U.S.”

‘Patriot’ websites and message boards lit up with the cancellation in the wee hours of Saturday morning. A story circulated that threats from Mexican cartels were responsible for the cancellation, but it was the second time that ‘border protest’ organizers have tried this exact same excuse to explain a failed protest. This time, they couldn’t convince Ildefonso Ortiz at Breitbart.com to report it credulously.

This is basically what I predicted would happen in last Thursday’s THREATCON. One reason I felt confident enough to make that call was the prominence of a particular name in the news coverage leading up to this weekend: Barbie Rogers, who claimed that 25 border crossings would get shut down across four states.

“It is a peaceful protest, it has nothing to do with the militia, we’re going to pull up 200 feet away from the ports of entry, and they are going to get out of their cars and close the ports down. No traffic will be coming in or out,” explains Barbie Rogers, activist.

That is the same Barbie Rogers whose ‘Patriot Information Hotline’ first started inflating this story back in June — and whose electronic traces from that period have since been scrubbed from the internet, probably in order to conceal the nativism and idiotic fringe stuff. Those are her pictures below; let her name be a watchword for hoax organizing.

    1. Makes more sense if you spell it ‘mined’, as in ‘excavated, with anything of value removed’, or ‘implanted with explosive devices’.

  1. I can’t wait for the release of Sgt Tahmooressi- If only to see how the RWNJs change their tune on him when he gets back. I think the only circumstances under which he can be returned that will get the RWNJ seal of approval are:
    a) Bomb Mexico
    b) Bomb Iran
    c) Wait until we elect a Republican president so HE get him back the RIGHT way. Perhaps by bombing Mexico.

Unless one of those conditions is met, there’s a real chance he’ll be met with a traitor’s welcome by Republicans when he comes home. I mean, he MUST be a traitor, right? Otherwise, why would OBAMA want him back?

    1. Perhaps by bombing Mexico.

Can you imagine such a thing?? The thought is both hilarious and frightening. Therefore, ergo and to whit, True Patriot® border militias could demand exactly that if their ‘demands’ are not met.

  2. Both Barbie Rogers and Stasyi Barth seemed to be running the cancelled protest, though oddly did not seem to be on the same page together regarding organization details.

Barth’s secondary Facebook event page (now deleted) showed Rob Chupp, Larry Murdock and Barbie Rogers as cohosts of the page/event, though none of three cohosts said a single word on their personal pages about the protest being cancelled.

So, are Barbie and Stasyi total BFFs in this? Or are they competitors for attention and power?

Barbie’s Patriot Information Hotline also rings a bell as a fractured remnant of the Operation American Spring debacle back in May with much infighting over cash donations, T-shirts and other such nonsense.

  3. Admittedly, I did threaten to disrupt the protests by launching Twinkies via rail gun. But that wouldn’t explain Barbie not being there to catch the incoming and stuff it down her gaping maw.

  4. wELL, THE PROBLEM WOULD AVE BEEN SOLVED ABOUT 30 YEARS AGO IF EMPLOYERS WANTED TO PAY DECENT WAGES FOR SERVICE JOBS AND CONSTRUCTION. mANY ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT DIDN’T WANT AN ID SYSTEM THAT WOULD HAVE PREVENT HIRING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS OR PENALIZED COMPANIES THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. IN FACT CONSERVATIVES FAVORITE STATE OF TEXAS IS THE SECOND WORST IN TOTAL NUMBER OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS AND ABOUT 30,0000 TO 500,000 GREW UNDER RICK PERRY’S GOVERNORSHIP BECAUSE ITS CHEAPER LABOR FOR CONSTRUCTION WORK.

      1. Arizona would be just as bad. I can’t think of how many illegals I saw when I lived there and most had no issues coming up to tell you “No card, need work, please hire” as best as they possibly could. A protest is not going to help, it hasn’t so far.

      2. I completely agree. And it would be especially bad on the border towns. That area of Texas relies heavily on immigrants and also on Mexican citizens who cross the border to shop and visit tourist attractions. They would probably stand in solidarity with the plight of the immigrants and stop spending their money in Texas border cities. The economic impact on the area would be tremendous and I think many people fail to understand that.

        1. Texas is not the only state that has that going on, Arizona is just as bad. You can see people standing around any place other than the police station or a college campus looking for a quick job. No one speaks English and most people don’t even bother to report it.

      3. Immigrants are fine, but illegal immigrants are not. Border protests may not be the answer; however, the influx of folks coming here with no documentation and no authorization to be here needs to stop.
