Steve Bannon isn’t the most popular fellow among the readers and commenters on Breitbart.com these days. The revelation of some of Bannon’s comments concerning Trump and his kids have enraged the base, as show in this sampling of comments.

“Ultrabass” wrote: Bannon is a self serving Charletan (sp) looking for his 20 seconds of fame. I liked him until this. E Tu Brutae? Do we really need more backstabbers giving ammo to the media????

“James Austin” wrote: I’m gone. My Breitbart bookmark is deleted. Bannon can get his own horse and ride off with his buddy Roy “Never” Moore.

“Gonzalo Gonzales” agreed. Me too Hey Bannon go suck your own Deek oh wait you’ve been doing too much of that already

“Alex Kantares” wrote:Bannon is a wannabee at best. Trump is everything this country needs after two lousy Presidencies {4 if you count papa bush and Clinton. When you speak ill of Trump you are either a phony ideological and ineffectual conservative ala lying Cruz, A solid never trumper or has gone Banon bananas

“Antifa, Sponsored by CNN” wrote: Tread lightly Breitbart. Dont ruin what Andrew Breitbart created. Bannon has lost his mind. Period. And he will take this site down with him if you choose his side. I came here and continue to come here daily because of what Andrew did, not what Bannon did. I can simply walk away, and rely on the dailycaller for my information. I say again, while you may have allegiance to Steve Bannon, taking his side will ultimately end this site and everything Breitbart created. Choose your words very carefully.

“Geoffyjoe” wrote: Bannon has blown it. He took an important and brilliant point of view and turned it into a Trump trash talking disgrace. I support our President.

These are representative of the anti-Bannon comments on the site. Other comments support Bannon or take a neutral stance. Also, a fair amount of trolling is underway.

Nevertheless, it is clear that if this isn’t the Fort Sumter of the Civil War in the GOP, it’s darn close to it.
