Georgia’s 10th District is poised to send a man to Congress who can argue vigorously for corporate personhood. Before he was a candidate, presumptive winner Jody Hice compared Hobby Lobby’s fight to keep the 21st Century outside its doors to the Bundy ranch standoff:
“Businesses cannot remain committed to their personal religious convictions if there is ever a confrontation between those religious beliefs and same-sex marriage.”
To put this in clear context, Hice also thinks the 2nd Amendment gives everyone the right to own weapons of mass destruction:
“It is my belief that any, any, any, any weapon that our government and law enforcement possesses ought to be allowed for individuals to possess in this country.”
Summing up: Jody Hice believes that corporations are people with religious freedom to discriminate — and that Americans should own ICBMs in order to stop a tyrannical government from forcing their third party insurance providers to cover birth control the same way they cover Viagra. Better not mess with Jody Hice’s precious bodily fluids, or by golly he’ll set the world on fire!
